2007-08 School Year Kick-Start Goal - $5,000 

S.T.E.P.S. is a parent support group for all SHS cultural, academic, athletic and activity organizations. Through our fundraising efforts we are able to approve many funding requests from organizations in need. We also act as an umbrella fundraising group by organizing larger events. We encourage all parents to be a part of this important group.  If you’d like to get involved, be informed and have fun with other parents, make a note on the form below and join us for our first 2006-07 meeting on September 17^th.  We’d love to add you to our team!

Starting the New School Year:
At the start of each school year, S.T.E.P.S. helps fund the student planners and contributes to the PTSA newsletter.  We also help with other start-up needs for clubs, groups and staff.  This year, we would like to kick-start our school year by raising $5,000 to get things rolling.  Can you HELP?

WHY DONATE TO S.T.E.P.S.?

S.T.E.P.S.  MISSION STATEMENT and HISTORY:

Sammamish Totems’ Enrichment Program Supporters, formerly the SHS Booster Club earned its 501(c)3 status in 1986.  For 21years the club has functioned as the primary fundraising body for Sammamish High School. It’s Mission: To encourage, promote and support the cultural, social, academic and athletic activities of the student enabling them to refine their skills and abilities and to receive enjoyment and personal growth from their activities.

New This Year! Joint S.T.E.P.S/PTSA Meetings

In an effort to streamline our schedules and eliminate having to make a choice of meetings, we will be holding our first joint meeting. We will alternate which group goes first and have a single meeting which will be more efficient for the administration and parents.  How’s that for efficient?

HOW DOES S.T.E.P.S. RAISE FUNDS?

Funds are primarily raised through our Pass the Hat Invitation in September, concession stand sales at school throughout the year and the downtown Bellevue ice rink during December. Money is also raised through our merchandise sales, (hats and sweatshirts) and a possible auction each spring if voted on by the group.

HOW DO I BECOME A MEMBER OF S.T.E.P.S.?

Membership is open to all interested parents, staff, alumni, and members of the community at large.  Meetings are held on the 2nd Monday of the month and are open to all members. There are no membership requirements or fees; participation is simply encouraged and your commitment to S.T.E.P.S. is a personal choice.  

 I HAVE ALREADY CONTRIBUTED TO MY STUDENT’S CLUB/SPORT.  WILL MY “MEMBERSHIP” IN S.T.E.P.S. REALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE? YES!!  Every student, parent, staff member, and the community at large stands to benefit from S.T.E.P.S. support.  Your student will most likely be involved in a variety of different activities while at SHS.  While the parent support groups surrounding your student’s activity, club or sport certainly provide a critical foundation, it is often the supplemental funds from S.T.E.P.S. which makes a project, trip or program possible.  We recognize budgets in public schools will continue to tighten and there is less money available to support student life.  STEPS does what it can to help.

 Some Items Funded Last Year Include

ASB scholarships, College Scholarships, Student Leadership, Gridiron, Girls and Boys Water Polo, Choir, Band and Orchestra, Defibulator, Link Crew and Diversity Summit. 13 Clubs and Groups each earned over $2000 for their groups and over $40,000 was disbursed to benefit the community here at SHS.
