Coaching Staff

 

 

Varsity Coach: Jay Broadenax

Coach Jay began his coaching career training youth on Fort Lewis, WA and helping them excel at individual basketball skills. He later helped students at area schools such as Lincoln, Lakes, Wilson, Foss, Rainier Beach, Garfield, and Franklin. In 2002 Coach Jay began volunteering with Lakes High School, assisting Coach David McEachern. In 2007 he coached the Lakes Fall League team to a 14-1 season winning the Emerald City Fall League Basketball Championship. Coach Jay also assisted Lakes during the regular season which concluded in Lakes placing 4th in the Washington State 3A Basketball State Championship. Jay hails from Texas and served in the military for four years. He has finished his Masters degree from the University of Washington.

Assistant Coach: Carolyn (Carrie) DeCaires

First year coaching at Sammamish, but going into her fourth season as the assistant softball coach at Bellevue High School (finished 3rd in the state last season). Started playing basketball at the age of five. Graduated from McKinley High School (Hawaii) in 1996 where she lettered in basketball (all four years), volleyball (freshman year) and softball (senior year). In the summer of 1995, she was chosen to represent the state of Hawaii in Japan for the Goodwill games. She was the JV MVP her freshman year, received league honorable mentions her sophomore and junior years and league 2nd team honors along with most inspirational her senior year. She was apart of many successful programs as player (playoffs all four years of high school, back to back league champs in
1995 and 1996, finished 4th in the state in 1995 and 3rd in the state in 1996 where her team finished the season with a 24-1 reacord.) Chose to play at Olympic College in Bremerton, WA where she received 2nd team NWAAC honors as a sophomore and has her bachelors degree from the University of Washington. She enjoys the outdoors, sports, coaching, and spending time with family and friends.
