Darryl Gonyea graduated from Western Washington University
with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education.
He teaches PE at Bellevue High School. "Having been given the
opportunity to coach at Sammamish High School is an honor that I do not
take lightly and a challenge that I cherish. I have high expectations of
myself and expect the same from everyone else involved in Sammamish
soccer. The challenge I have placed on myself is to make any
student/athlete look back on their experience with Sammamish soccer as a
positive one." Darryl
has played soccer at the select level for over 35 years, coached at various
levels for over 25 years and been involved in State Championships as well as
National Championships as either a player, coach or both. His coaching
accomplishments include 3 State Championships; Nathan Hale Boy’s ’85 (asst.
coach), FC Alliance GU14 ’02 and University Prep Girl’s ’04. He has
also led 3 teams to state placements; University Prep Girl’s
’05 4th Place, FC Alliance GU12 ’00 2nd Place and Sammamish
Boy’s ’07 4th Place
(asst. coach). He was selected as Emerald City League Coach of The
Year and State Coach of The Year for Girl’s 1/A in 2004.
