About PTSA
Our mission: to support the health, education and welfare of all children in our community
Our focus is on providing information, training, education, and
support to the entire Sammamish High School community.
PTSA and STEPS work side by side with the same ultimate goal:
to make
In order for our PTSA to be successful we need the same support from
you that you have provided to PTA throughout the years. The best
ways that you can support the mission of our PTSA at Sammamish High
School are:
ü
Become a PTSA Member
- For each $15 membership, our PTSA gets $9 to use toward providing
services to our community.
ü
Sign up to be in our email database
– you will be better informed on information about events at
Sammamish on a regular and timely basis, and you will also help us
to achieve our goal of improving communication in our community.
ü
Talk to us!
If you have concerns or issues involving your student, it is
our job to listen and provide support if we can.
If we don’t have an answer, we will use our resources to do
what we can to find one.
ü
Be involved in your child’s education.
You may be thinking “how does this support PTSA?” Well,
statistics show that when parents are involved in their kids’ high
school education, the kids benefit, and we know that there is no
better support for a child than family involvement!
The following are some of the services and programs our PTSA
provides at Sammamish High School:
Highlights of PTSA Programs
Parent Communication
Student & Staff Support and Recognition

Sammamish “Totem News” Newsletter (published 8 times per school
year)

PTSA Membership Myth & Fact:
Myth:
If I join PTSA then I will have to volunteer and go to
meetings
Fact:
We can’t tell you how many times we have had people say to
us, “I wanted to join PTSA but I’m just too busy”.
Joining
PTSA does not come with any “strings” attached. As a PTSA member,
you are entitled to a voice and vote at our meetings, and although
we would love to have every member attend meetings, we know this
would be a completely unrealistic expectation (and the library
wouldn’t hold us all anyway!).
As for volunteering, we’re not going to lie to you, if you are on
the email list, you WILL
receive the request for volunteer emails. However, when we send
these out we do so with the understanding that the opportunity will
only work for a small number of people, and that the responses
change each and every time.
Our philosophy on
volunteering is that if it works for you, great!
If it doesn’t then maybe it will the next time, or the next,
or the next. We know that each person has unique interests, talents
and schedules. It is important that as a community we embrace this
knowledge and respect each other for any involvement whether it is
through physical volunteering, food or monetary donations, attending
meetings, staying informed, or talking to your kids.
By reading this page, you have already shown that you care about and
are contributing to our community, and we thank you!!
